You should finish The Merchant Princes quickly, because he's writing another trilogy on it. Or hold off reading it, because he's writing more. I'm not sure which is the right response.

It's amazing how quickly dated some of that book is. I don't know how far you are in it, so I'll be oblique, but I was surprised by how much the Bush Administration features in it.

I read the first three and then put it down, honestly, I wasn't terribly impressed, but because I am insane, I will finish the series at some point.

Moloney is creepily obsessed with Gerry Adams,

He wrote a whole blog post recently about how Adams came to New York for colon cancer surgery, and whether it would have been cheaper to have it done in Belfast or Dublin. "Creepily obsessed" is, if anything, being too nice to Moloney.

This is delightful to read and makes me think we need to hang out soon.

We do need to hang soon! And Moloney is creepy. But if you're going to stalk someone, Adams is a good choice. With all that has been written about the Provos and Adams, its amazing how much of who is is, and what he did, are still up for debate.

Oh I love Moby Dick so much and it makes me crazy that I never get past a certain point a third of the way in. I don't really get it.
