California, calling Attutle, are you there?

Today my caller ID box shows a call (which I missed) from "California", from the phone number 805-000-0000.

I am, of course, skeptical.

You looked at the number, right? I don't think it could work. I'll try it for grins though.

"Your call cannot be completed as dialed. Please check the number and try your call again."

its a simple trick many outbound and direct calling business calls use, if they own their own switch, (isdn, voip, full featured pbx) they can program the outgoing CID to be anything, sometimes people block "no cid" or 000-000-0000 so they put an area code, but spoof the rest blank.. good chance it was the credit department or sales branch for some business

Yeah, they just changed it from "calling me at home" to get the cadence right.
