even when one is stressed
and bleeding
and missing people terribly yet apprehensive of arrivals
stretching = yes.

the splits will soon be mine.

i wish i had a full-length mirror so i could see what my forward bend looks like.

On a related note, be sure to watch last night's (Monday) Colbert Report. There's a report on pole dancing.

we’ve been waiting impatiently for people to upload it-with luck we’ll have it tomorrow, otherwise, maybe thursday or friday.

but yeah, i’m definitely curious to see that. there are a lot of different angles they could take, some of which i’d find maddening. i’ve noticed that coverage of pole dancing in the popular press tends to vary wildly in tone. :P

saw it! saw it back before the family hit, actually, but it’s been busy.

seemed fair enough to me, which is good. i mean, there was insinuation that it might not be an “empowering” activity, but then, i find the attitude that an activity like this can be inherently empowering or inherently degrading to be bizarre. context is key. and things do change over time. the empowerment folks sometimes plug their angle overly hard. it’s a variant of over-defensiveness, i think-there are a lot of people out there who see pole dancing as wholly without merit, and wholly without the possibility of merit.

of course, i always wish that these reports would hint at how physically demanding it is. =P sure, the housewives weren’t doing particularly difficult tricks, but they showed a clip of the industry girl doing a fantastically slow, controlled shoulder mount that i know required loads of strength. and even the beginners’ spins and whatnot are better exercise than a lot of people give them credit for.
