I just read this story, over the course of a couple of days... I actually snuck home on my lunch break today from a workshop to get in a little bit. This was extraordinary. I don't have anything to say that previous commenters haven't already, so I'll just say that this pretty much grabbed my heart in its spiked fist Thursday night and kept it there all the way through 'til Sunday, and the last little while, there was a serious problem with not being able to read the screen because I kept having to dab tears away. Thank you for the ray of light at the end -- it was really hard to watch these characters going through so much. But then...bliss.

Anyhoodle. That was brilliant. Go you. :) (Also, 240k words?!?!! Jeeez. I hope *you* got the damn Nobel Prize for Literature!)

Nope, just the satisfaction of making deadline. But I'm never trying that again. I think I burned out something on this story. This year's effort is considerably less ambitious in scope and size.

Thank you for the ray of light at the end -- it was really hard to watch these characters going through so much. But then...bliss.

The bliss is sweeter when they've got hell behind them, I think.
