we don't plan to move molly for a while. unless she starts trying to climb out of the crib, or we have a new baby who needs it (whichever comes first), she'll just stay in it until an indefinite point in the future.
i guess i'm just not eager to deal with the things that may happen when we make the switch (getting up after she's been put to bed, waking up and wandering around unsupervised, etc.). if we don't have another baby any time in the near future, and she doesn't start trying to climb out of the crib, we'll probably leave her there until she's closer to 3.
This is my plan as well. Kyndle hasn't tried to climb out yet, so I would love to keep her in as long as possible. Her crib converts to a toddler bed, so if needed, we have that. I would really love for her to stay in her crib as long as possible too, because of the same reasons - getting up & wandering around. We'll get a gate for her room, of course, but still. It is scary thinking about it...especially since we have a two story.
Jasmine was transitioned about about 13 months. She started to Climb out of her Crib!! We had no choice but to do so. However, she took to it very well. She loved her "new" bed.. and would lay on it all the time. Now, its jsut a pain sometimes at night to get her to "stay" in her bed.. But she does love it.
I'm not moving Nate until I have to. :) He doesn't climb out. He loves his crib. As a matter of fact, he absolutely will not go to sleep unless he's "caged." If he can get up and out of bed and move around, he'll stay up til 2:00 or 3:00 am. If we put him in his crib (or playpen when we're traveling), he's out like a light by 9:15. :) I'm not moving him.
As a matter of fact, I'm so adamant about not moving him that I found a new crib for our baby who is due in July. Nate will be a month shy of 2 when she's born and hubby just wanted to move him (like we moved his big brother at about the same age when he was born) and I said no way, we'll just get a second crib. :) Big brother was much more compliant and easier to get to stay in a big boy bed and even that transition had problems that I wasn't happy dealing with when I was 8 months pregnant and then with a newborn, so I just don't want to go there again. Nate'll let me know when he's ready to get out of his crib and then I'll be happy to get him a big boy bed... not until. :
Congratulations :) I was just wondering the other day how many of the August 2005 mamas were expecting again, we will be ttc'ing in a couple of months. A little girl this time hmm?
CJ's still in his crib, and we plan to keep him there for the time being. Even though he's a monkey and loves to climb all over the furniture, he doesn't try to climb out of the crib. So ... I don't plan to move him out of it until he shows clear signs of being willing to stay in a bed all night, and he's definitely not there yet. This could get complicated since I am expecting again and due in July, which means there will soon be another kiddo needing a crib. But I don't think we'll need it right away. For the first few months, she'll sleep in a bassinet next to my bed. Then we also have a pack n' play with a bassinet, and she can sleep in that until she starts sitting up. So hopefully CJ will be ready for a big-boy bed by the time my daughter needs a real crib!
