Chestnuts roasting on an open fire . . .

Nov 17, 2005 14:31

. . . is apparently what we'll be having - and ALL we'll be having - for Thanksgiving dinner; my mom and I are headed to my sister's place for Thanksgiving, and she is lacking:

a) a working oven

b) two working burners on the stove (the two that do work are the small burners), and

c) a working microwave.

Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, here we come!

I'm not even sure how we're going to make the popcorn, without a microwave. I'm new school that way.

Nothing says "catered Thanksgiving" to me like a busted kitchen - splurge!

But . . . but I like the cooking. I wanted to make squash casserole. :-(

(We once spent Christmas in a Galveston hotel, and got "Christmas dinner" from Boston Market. Bleh.)

Are you driving there? Maybe you can bring someone a toaster over that also bakes (I have one that I lurvvvve...wendywoowho made a cake in it once!)...

Easy-Bake oven! Get that lightbulb to burn hot, Baby. (Betcha wanna spend Turkey Day with my surrogate family now, don't ya'?)

Other than that, I like Woo's idea. She's masterful that way.

I want to spend Thanksgiving with you (and the Fake Fam) even if my sister has SIX functioning kitchens.

Also popcorn. And you can make it in a pan on top of the stove, too, you know?

It's actually better than Jiffy Pop.

:D
