It's tempting to think that one Thanksgiving is pretty much like another, except for differences in the guest list and the recipes. But it isn't true. This is always a feast about where we are now. Thanksgiving reflects the complexion of the year we're in. Some years it feels buoyant, almost jubilant in nature.

It's so hard to write simple sentences. I want to write complex ones, and it's difficult to slow down and be simple, it's sort of facile really. I made my own text for Thanksgiving since everything else on the internet was too hard for my students, you know complex compound sentences and what not, real English: think too hard; but anyway my text

My students make me laugh. I have to hold it in and bite my tongue, because if I laugh during class, the tenuous control I hold over these 11 to 12 year olds is just going to go all to hell.
