I discovered, once, that the fault of playing bad elevator music lies with the manager of the building, not the Muzak company. Well, I suppose they can be blamed for producing bad soft jazz renditions of good music in the first place--but it turns out that the Muzak company offers some 60+ channels of music, many of which actually don't suck--so it's the manager that chooses which shlock gets played. :)
