Frequently Asked Questions,
Is this only for X-Men Characters?
No! We want everyone! As long as your character has something that could be considered a 'mutation' or they could be considered a sympathizer. This is can be a character who was in actuality sympathetic to their plight, or perhaps someone in the wrong place at the wrong time; caught in a protest or something of that ilk. As long as you have a suitable reason for them being brought in, we'll accept them.

What if they have A LOT of powers?
If your character is from a canon where magic is readily avaliable, such as the Final Fantasy series, then I would advise picking one or two of the powers available and applying with that. If they're from a canon where they've developed more than one, pick one as the main mutation and list the others as secondary.

Do you allow OCs or AUs?
Currently we accept OCs on a case by case basis, and once we have enough characters we plan to allow AUs into the game and already have a plot arc relative to the reasons AUs would exist within the semi-realistic nature of the game. However, we would like to have enough canon characters before we allow in AU versions of them.

What about non-human characters?
Non-humans and non-humanoid characters are acceptable provided they are mentally capable of sentient thought and you app them as a humanoid. If your character canonically has no humanoid form (Transformers, for example) than pick a human or drawn PB and apply with them. Please make note of this in the application.

Multiples of PB's?
If your both applying for canon characters (say Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern and Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool) than you're both allowed to keep the canon PBs. However if someone in game is currently playing a canon character with a PB you would like to use to app your OC then send the mods, or the other player, to make sure canon-character's mun is okay with having a PB duplicate.

How are PB duplicates handled in game?
If your character and another have the same PB you have the option of deciding with that mun if their matching appearance  is acknowledged or dismissed as 'looking similar'.

How old do my characters have to be?
In order to be imprisoned they have to be over the age of 16 due to the degrading and sometimes violent nature of a prison-based game.

Can I age my character up?
Yes, you may age them up to or past sixteen, however if you choose to do so we ask that you also age up your PB in order to keep from making people uncomfortable.

Can I app two people from the same fandom?
Yes and no. While you can app two characters from the same fandom, you cannot app two characters who would interact heavily.

How will the characters communicate when locked up?
During the time they're not allowed out of their cells they will use a prison technique called ' fishing'. In essence, what prisoners doe is write a note, roll it up and tie it to a string. They fling it out of their cell in an attempt to get it to the person they're writing or someone else who can pass along the note. This does mean you have a chance of your note being intercepted by guards or other prisoners.

There will possibly be a cork board added in the future but as of now verbal communication and fishing are the two main modes in Automaton.

Do I have to let someone else read it?
No, this is entirely up to the player who's character is sending the note.

I have another question that isn't on the FAQ!
