This has, over the summer, become one of my favorite songs.

A perfect French song. I really like songs in languages I don't understand, I'm able to project so much in to something so tiny. Pop songs as mystery signs.
William Gibson turned me on to this video from his blog. I'm nearly done with his Spook Country and I must say I'm in love. Not ( Read more... )

That song has been one of my favorites for a very, very long time. Basically it's about seeing couples in love but being alone and being okay with it. It was also one of the first things in French I could understand.

Also, I miss you. Good luck with the move.

It's at least what I've been trying to come to terms with... haha.

And I think I should find time to take you up on that offer. Definitely. And if you ever want to come back to Boston, my place is your place.

Heh, something I've thought about a lot is the phenomenon of people having strong emotional connections to music where they can't understand the words. Specifically, I realized one day that I have no clue what 50-75% of the words on most Superchunk albums are, and I doubt most people have any clue what Steve Malkmus is singing most of the time. The way indie rock records were being produced in the 90s you can often hardly make out the words at all... so, people must be responding to something other than meaning in the words. I'm only partially sure of what that "something other" is.
