Oh yeah, really good album. She's adamant about Diplo's non-involvement here (bad breakup, it sounds like), and I think it's actually better for it. She and Switch keep Kala banging till the last track, which was such a slap in the face that it kinda keeps this off my own year-end lists. I mean, after an album full of absolutely vital hip hop all around the third world, capped by a song of violent indignation about the whole pervasive backdrop of ethnomusicology, you close out your album by having Timbaland come on and half-ass a few lines? Hell with that.
I wasn't going to mention Diplo because of that actually, but then I thought that's such nonsense. And, I do like that last song, but I try and ignore the Timbaland verses as much as I can at least--I mean, he's a great producer, but I'm in complete agreement with you that it is, at least, somewhat of a bad spot on the album.
