I couldn't resist the "literally" option. Pet peeve!!! As is "I could care less" actually. :)

Me too! Lately, the "couldn't of", "wouldn't of", "shouldn't of" thing is my biggest pet peeve of all. I've been hearing them more and more recently.

To be most accurate, I tend to say "wouldn't've" in that southern slurred together way. But I am well aware it's "wouldn't have"

You can't ask someone with a Linguistics degree which one is "correct"! I know which I use, but "correct" is a totally bogus word in this context.
