new user picture. i took it to illustrate my weird left eye. it used to be normal, but as i've gotten older it seems to have developed a bit of a slant to it. you can't see it in real life or in live action, and you can't see it when i look straight or right. but if i look left... there it is, all off kilter.
i'm sure it will right itself when i ( Read more... )

what do you think could be the matter?

i went to the eye doctor last year and she said my eyes are fine. the left one doesn't work as well as the right, never has. she said if i'd had it patched as a child, they'd both be perfect now, but now i'm too old and it's too late. she said now the only way to see better out of it is to poke the good one out, because then the bad one will start to improve.

the left one (which is actually on the right in the photo) doesn't line up exactly, but it's only visible when i look left and only in a still photo. it's like catching a ghost. you can see it by comparing the white parts visible. it's definitely the iris, because my eyes aren't different shapes in real life.

Ah the dreaded lazy eye. I wore a patch for short time in youth. But the doctor's said my case was too severe to be fixed that way, so I had to have surgery. I don't really remember it, just that when I woke up, my eyes were all coated in some vasoline type gunk and I couldn't see for a day.

When I went to have lasik surgery three years ago, they told me I still have the problem. Thay said lasik wouldn't fix it, but would be able to give me 20/20. I never really notice anything different though. Maybe I have to catch myself from the side like you did...

yeah, i don't know how to fix it. the doctor said there wasn't anything to do for it, but she also thought it was no sort of problem at all. there was no mis-alignment at that time, and my vision is fine enough on its own.

do you remember what surgery you had? my only fear is that i become one of those people with the complete crazy eye that drifts off into space while you're talking to them.

I don't remember anything about the surgery. I think I must have been about 8 at the time. I believe they explained it as cutting some ligaments that were pulling too much and shortening weaker ones. At least thats what I remember.

well, i'd still hang out with you even if you did become one of those people whose crazy eye drifted off entirely while talking to you. but i'm sure you'll be fine.
