Heres a good tip, if the guy is dancing in a gay club, hes probably gay. Most likely, in fact. Does that help?

To make sure, he could take his penis out and waggle it in front of the guys. See if they take the bait.

Probably, most likely, but not necessarily. At least around here, in the SF bay area, there are surprisingly few homophobes. People go to gay clubs because they're fun, and not only because they're gay.

Well, it used to be just gay men.

Then straight women started showing up because gay men are good dancers and won't spend all night staring at their tits.

Then straight men started showing up because... hey, straight women.

Unfortunately, you can only find out through extreme measures - like talking to them.

Yes, this is what I was afraid of. I was hoping there'd be some kind of ESP trick or something. :)

One time I was in a gay club (ok, well gay night at a mixed venue), and I hit on this hot guy. I asked him "What's a hot guy like you doing dancing alone?" He answered, "I'm not alone, I'm here with my boyfriend."

If you are having trouble with gaydar, you could always use a homometer.

An oral or a rectal homometer? :)

I have very fine-tuned gaydar. And people always scoff and insist it isn't real. But it is, man.

I suspect my gaydar is tuned to a few things, but the primary thing is the fact that a lot of gay men take steps to hide their sexuality unless they're talking to someone they find attractive. It really is the most visible trait, but you only notice if you look for it. Obviously, though, that isn't much help in clubs or bars.

Your best bet is to go up and talk to people. Believe it or not, people who go to the kinds of bars you go to in order to hook up are looking to do precisely that. If you get a rejection, it'll probably be "Sorry, I'm just not interested." as opposed to an earth-shattering, life-destroying, commit-suicide-to-salvage-your-family's-honour shitpile. And if you don't get a rejection... well, then!

so your gaydar only works if someone is actively "using their gay".. which requires someone attractive being nearby?

This seems like a very limited amount of time. I work in an office of old people, does that mean youd never be able to tell with me? :P

Considering the weekend cruises down the Niagara with various boyfriends, I think I'd figure it out eventually. :P

But my gaydar has never--ever--been wrong. Ever. EVER.

If you were wrong, how would you know?

"Oh that guy over there is totally gay and hitting on that other guy".. Do you go up to them and say "excuse me, are you GAY? yes? you are? HAHA, my gaydar, like my online commmenting, is infallible!"
