I was reading an article in the San Francisco Chronicle today about asexuality. There is a growing movement of people who believe that they are asexual. They say that they have no sexual desire. However, they do have platonic relationships that involve affection and love. They just don't feel any need to have sex.

Do you think that some of these asexual people are just repressed? Perhaps, the reason some of these people don't feel sexual attraction is that they are secretly gay. What about the people who don't even want to try sex? Maybe if they tried it they might change their minds?

There are actually a fair number of gay/lesbian asexuals. They enjoy romantic relationships with members of the same sex/gender, but have no desire for the sexual aspects.

It is ironic: asexual people would like a category to identify/protect them in a sex obsessed age, so we all sit around obsessing about what asexuality might or might not be:-)
