Did you come out in high school? Where was your place on the food chain? How'd you deal with crushes and dating?
ect...

I grew up in a tiny, tiny South East Texas town that had more churches than gas stations and more right wing nuts than you can believe.

So... no, I was not out in high school. Wasn't even on the radar.

Wasn't w/ the cool kids, but I was close enough that I could mingle with them without being rejected.

Had crushes aplenty, but never, ever acted on them outside of more help w/ school for boys I thought were cute.

Dated girls all the way through.

I came out the end of Junior year of high school to a group of people in my dance class. I was in denial about it, although looking back I was pretty gay.

Most people didn't even know I was gay. I never dated, never was interested in any of the gay kids at my school b/c they were all whores and idiots.

It didn't really impact my high school experience one way or another, and I attest that to living in the Bay Area. My biggest thing was falling for straight guys who would get freaked out, and rightfully so...That was my biggest obstacle. I hate high school...

I came out to a few selected people in high school.
I was a top predator on the food chain. I eat other producers and consumers.
I deal with it like any other gay boy; watch and lust from afar and not touch.

I wasn't out until somewhere between Junior and Senior year, and even then only to a few people. I went to a school where everyone was nerdy, so we were pretty much on the same level. I went to school in San Francisco though, so the atmosphere was pretty liberal and I had tons of out gay and lesbian teachers. They were pretty instrumental in making me feel better about life, though I wasn't out to any of them.

All my crushes were pretty much unrequited except one, and in that situation we came out to each other and things got interesting.

Did I come out in high school? In Mesquite, Texas? In the early 1970's?

That would be a no.
