Is the time period between the first and second date too early to "friend" someone on Facebook?

People friend me after having met me for all of 15 minutes, so I would say definitely not too short.

I never friend people on FB that I want to date or am dating--it can make people lazy. If they want to friend me, fine, but I want them to find out all that information in person rather than by facebook stalking me.

I've had more than one person I'm dating friend me on FB then the relationship fizzled out and devolved into writing on each other's walls and poking. WTF. I find it works out better if they have to call you to get ahold of you.
