I probably shouldn't be posting since I'm really emotional right now, but I have a problem and it's escalating and I need some advice.

So there's this creepy asshole who has been following me around on the internet for just over a year now, badgering me to finish a WIP. They've posted on my LJ, my A03, the Inception Kink meme and ff.net on a regular ( Read more... )

Seriously?!!

I agree with everyone. You have to report them. There is no reason you should be bullied like that or have to put up with it in any way. If they are sick enough to stalk you for so long, I am not sure if it will do much good to confront them (other than making you feel better) but if they start to getting banned for harrassment everywhere - that could help.

Thank you and sorry for the late reply. I needed to take a day to clear my head.

I've reported them where I could. Apparently there's a thing on A03 that says that if you've deleted comments, it's gone. Well, that's what I've been doing. *sigh* Anyway, I reported to ff.net and LJ. We'll see what comes of it. In the meantime, I took down the fic everywhere but A03, where it's now listed as complete with a sad ending.

Not what I've hoped for, but... I can't deal with this anymore.

They've been pretty careful about the IP, which makes me think this isn't the first time. I thought that they had commented on my LJ, but it turns out they commented on a group-comm which doesn't track IPs.

Fucking psychopath, I swear.

Anyway, I've taken down the fic on LJ, ff.net and have it listed complete on A03. I doubt this'll stop them, but... whatever. Its what I can for now. I did report on LJ and ff.net though.

I think everyone has already gone through all the advice. SO I'l just say: *hugs* I hope you don't let this get you down too much. However this stalker is, they don't deserve that control over you. And all the best for whatever you decide to do!

Thank you SO much for your support and advice.

I started reporting and really digging into things yesterday. I was mistaken about the LJ thing. They were harrassing me on my fic posts on the Eames/Arthur comm so I don't have a copy of their IP. I thought those were posts to my own journal Makes me think they've done this before, to be honest.

But I've reported to ff.net and LJ in any case. Maybe they can get something out of it. I've also deleted the story everywhere but at a03 with an explanation on why.

I am not going to allow this person to make me shut everything down, but I'm not going to be silent about it either. I've learned my lesson and I shouldn't have let it go on for a year and finally throw me into a tizzy.

We'll see if they get the message and piss off.

I agree with everyone else. It's abusive stalking and needs to be dealt with. AO3 has a good rep for dealing with this sort of thing. FFNet less so - but you could always take down, or hide, the story so far, and wait until you've finished it to re-post/unlock.

One reason why I don't post WIPs is the pressure from people like this who don't realise that you have a life outside writing fic.
