[Here are the sounds of fingers being drummed anxiously. Against wood. Against stone. Against anything.] This is a good thing. Surely, this is good. Camelot needs him. And--[pausing, hesitant]--he needs Camelot. Far more than he needs Luceti.

[Merlin, and the extreme fool that the sometimes is, has unintentionally left his journal open as he frets ( Read more... )

[There's a rustling in the nearby bushes during one of these floating episodes, and within a few moments, a tiny, six pound cat with a short tail emerges, watching the floating plant life with intense interest. Once the materials arrive at Merlin's hands, Foot looks at him curiously, her ears flicking at the young man.]

[Merlin looks up from his work.] Oh--hello. [He has a certain expectation of reply. The animals here talk, after all.]

Looking to play, are you? [The young sorcerer floats a couple flower petals towards the creature, keeping them tantalizingly just out of reach.]

[Foot will look up at the flower petals and twitch her ears before turning her attention back to Merlin. She'll make a soft purring noise, and seems almost to be smiling.]

Not going to bite, little one? [He drops the petals, letting them float lazily to the wet ground.

And, instead, he reaches his fingers out to the cat.]

Good way of thinking, kid.

[Startled:] What--? [He grabs onto the journal. There is a sigh of recognition.]

Oh. Yes. It was no good to have both the king and the prince here and not at home.

Sorry, didn't mean to make you jump.

[ McCoy sounded amused, before becoming sombre. ] No, I guess it isn't. It means less work for you.

Are you kidding me? Arthur may be a prat, but I'd rather work for him than directly for Uth--[Hm. The king might be listening, of course. Even if the journals were probably magical.] I mean, I relish any opportunity to serve the crown of Camelot.

[ Merlin may consider leaving the journal so close by while he reflects over this latest departure as foolish, but Fina hears this and decides not to reply once she understands that it's Arthur he is musing about. Instead, she decides to head over to the house he told her she was moving to instead. Watch out, Fina's about. ]

[By the time Fina comes 'round, Merlin is sitting with his hands behind his head. His eyes are slipping closed as the drumming of the rain on the covered porch that shelters him also drives him towards sleep.

A rough country crown made from reeds and flowers sits atop his open journal. Completed.]

[ Fina notices Merlin from the pathway leading up to his house and approaches the porch quietly, adjusting the rim of her hat up in order to have a better look at Merlin as he dozes idly on the porch.

She smiles slightly at the scene as Cupil chirrups over her shoulder and the Silvite presses a finger to her lips in response to his mindless chattering. The crown has not caught her attention yet. ]

[The chattering rouses him. Merlin rubs at his eyes, slowly sitting back up.

A small, gentle smile arises at the sight of Fina.] Good day.

Camelot, eh?

[voice] awaitingalbion July 10 2010, 18:27:55 UTC
Yes. Camelot.

[He sounds wary and also manages to reply without letting the journal catch sight of his face. One more snide remark about his lack of beard and he might have to cry.]

Weather pretty fair in that bit of the world, or so I've been told...

I've never had any reason to complain about the weather--so I suppose you're right about that. [Pause.] So Camelot exists, where you're from?

[Morgana opens the front door of house forty to find Merlin sitting there weaving grass together. Tilting her head she watches him before speaking. And yes she totally missed the part where he floated things.]

Thinking of Arthur? [She steps down and smooths the back of her dress as she sits next to Merlin on the step.]

[Momentarily startled, Merlin looks up to Morgana with a brief expression of panic; then, as soon as it had appeared, he manages to reclaim his calm.]

He's overbearing even while absent, my lady. [He tries to keep his voice light.]

[She chalks the slight panic in Merlin's eyes to her startling him and nothing more. Morgana chuckles at his words. He would be, despite his absence.]

You miss him though. As do I. I barely spoke to him before he vanished. It's quite selfish of me, but I wish he was still here. Though I suppose someone needs to be in charge of Camelot while Uther is not there.

I'm not sure how I feel about him being back on his own, though.
