it's my first day off since, uhm, I don't remember! (I'm allowed to take 30 days a year off, and I still have 25 left from last year, you do the math...)
and since I got nudged by, hmm, let me think, julione (twice! heee!), miss_sarac, red_sunflower, slackerace, danaid_luv, and sweet_ali, I felt forced decided to spend it here ( Read more... )

Welcome back, I never got around to watching Dollhouse, the reviews and buzz were so unpromising that I figured it was better not to waste my eyesight on it. There's only one real show left that I'm looking forward to and that's "Castle" with Nathan Fillion. I don't think it's going to be *good* per se, but I've never met a Nathan Fillion project I didn't at least partially love *g*

Hi! Good to see you!
So far you really don't have to watch Dollhouse. But I still hope it will get better. I would love to have a real Joss show back on screen.

I haven't even known about Castle yet! Nathan Fillion is one good reason to watch. I need to put it on my list *g*

Awww, thank you! *tacklehugs you*

I'm still hoping, too. But I just can't see it happen if they continue the way they do. Wasn't it rumored that Echo has some sort of personality left and wants to get behind all of it? They better start asap with it, because right now they could just use different characters every week with the same effect. As soon as you get used to them, they are gone... Why letting them get played by one actress if that's all that they got in common? It's only distracting not entertaining.
And I really miss Joss-worthy dialogue.

I wonder how they will explain what exactly they leave the dolls with characterwise when everything is erased. Apparently she is able to perform basic human interactions, so there must be some kind of intellect left...

Hope dies last, I hear ;)

What's the grapevine telling? Is it supposed to be getting better?

That's the rumor anyway. And it would have to get better IMO because I was bored, bored, bored.

Petzi! *waves madly and hugs you to the bosom*

At least something! I hope it will happen soon, right now I'm only not giving it up because of Joss.

Wow, we managed to walk away from that episode with totally different opinions. While I didn't think it was fantastic, I really didn't think it was as bad as you seem to have. And I was really kinda glad for the lack of typical Joss dialog given the subject matter.

Oh well, to each their own.

The thing is I didn't think it was bad. I just didn't think it was good either.
I was really indifferent. Hence I'm still having hopes for it. But there's only so much time I'll invest onto a show that doesn't make me connect and care.

You like it? Good for you!
I really wanted to like it, too. Well, I still have hope ;)

I think the difference is that I managed to connect with some of the characters. Either that or I'm really hard up for a show that manages not to disappoint me and isn't about to end.

I keep thinking (well, maybe hoping is a better word) that this is what it must have felt like for Firefly watchers to see The Train Job as their first episode. The two episodes seemed very similar to me: Not funny, too much exposition and in a way that still leaves you confused and not very interested in learning more, and very un-Joss-like.

I mean, it's Joss, so there's always a chance it could turn out to be brilliant. I would never believe that if this show was created by anyone else. He's still going to have his job cut out for him.

That's exactly what makes me not giving up the show yet. It COULD still turn out brilliant. Because it's Joss. If it wasn't for him, I probably wouldn't watch another episode, but as it is, I'm still hoping.

Maybe you're right about the Train Job analogy. I've watched it in the right order when it was already over, so I cannot imagine how it's like to see it as the pilot of a new show. It probably just leaves you confused.

Let's hope it's something like that. I really want to like it. I miss having a Joss show on screen.
