Everything that is, is and will be forever. Matter cannot be created nor destroyed. IT IS PERMANENT. Does this mean that we don't matter at all since one day we will be mud and air again? Or does it mean that change is a constant and we have it within ourselves to make that change? Because the mass stays the same, but the composition sure doesn't. ( Read more... )

Haha to Sahm's comment^
You know what? You're still Rachel in my mind. I'm not sure if 'Sahm' will ever really sink in for me.

But I do remember how good it felt the first time I just randomly stopped at 7-11 on the way home for a slurpee.

it's ok. i'm fine still being Rachel, to people who first met me as that. i just get annoyed when people who have called me Sahm for years suddenly start calling me Rachel because it's 'my real name'

so, your call :)

even if we end up being just mud again, we can still make a difference while we're here. if you find a cure for cancer (or even just teach your kids the best way to make a peanut butter sandwich), you've changed the world. so if not even a speck of you is left some day, people will still remember you or be affected by stuff you did. that's not exactly using conservation of matter as a good thing, but i guess it renders the fatalistic conclusions one might come to as a result of it slightly less scary. (how do you spell that word?)
