We went to see Gary Numan at the Paradise last night. Gary's not looking so nu anymore, and he was having serious problems with his voice, but it just didn't matter. Last night we went to see Covenant at the Paradise Rock Club in Boston. I think I just rolled back a decade in time. The show was great and Lesley became an instant fan. It's been a rather amazing week. Lesley's house was expected to close last Thursday. After six months of frustration the bank finally approved the short sale and everything was set to go. On Saturday Lesley's parents joined us for a hike in the White Mountains. We drove to the AMC Center and went up the Crawford Path to the Mizpah Spring Hut, then to the summit of Mt. Pierce and back down. It was a bit chilly but a good hike overall. I was impressed with the facilities at the hut, and I could be talked into spending the night there ( Read more... )

Yesterday I went to the Portsmouth Air Show with Lesley and her parents. It was a good show and comparable to anything I've seen at the many Cleveland National Air Shows I've been to. Lesley's short sale was approved! Finally she will be rid of that house in Providence! 

 I argued with a coworker a few weeks ago about whether Oracle's acquisition of Sun was a good thing for the future of the Java platform. He labeled himself more optimistic than me that they would do the right thing. Well, it didn't take too long for the nature of the beast to be revealed:
