The Office (US)
PG-ish, ~4500 words.
Valentine's Day at the office, 2007. (I know it's sort of hopelessly late for that, but I didn't realize how crazy writing a fic for a deadline in a TV fandom is---the new canon! It just keeps appearing. I had to just decide on a timeline point and go with it, so this takes place in ( Read more... )

your icon!! i'm all a-giggle. i converted mordecai to the show recently-ish, and she sent me an email after that episode aired with the subject "Ben Franklin may have had syphilis, but I don't!"

anyway, more to the point, i've written a lot of feedback that sounds just like that (BUT I CAN'T JUST PICK ONE THING, IT WAS ALL SO GOOD!), myself, so the fact that you felt that way about my fic has me grinning like a crazy person, so thank you muchly. ♥

I have never seen a single episode of The Office, and yet I feel like I *have*, this fic is so intricate and quirky and put together wish such obvious care. I am in awe of it, honestly. And now I just want to see this series.

the show is so much better than this fic, because it has real people making amazing facial expressions! (which reminds me that i never got to comment on your post re: anime/graphic novels, &c.)

so thank you, both for the feedback and for running the exchange! i have so much various feedback to leave for people that it's sort of overwhelming, but it will all happen eventually. but seriously, i'm so happy to be swimming in this tiny ocean of lovely fic. :)

I really enjoyed this. I loved that it's so detailed (and multimedia :D) yet still retains the thread of a Pam/Jim story without becoming overwhelmed with all the other characters. I particularly enjoyed Pam's characterization, especially: Pam stared into the fridge with the weird...it would overflow and take over her apartment. The whole paragraph, I just loved it.

thank you so much for picking out that Pam paragraph, as it's probably my favourite thing i wrote here. this fic was weird to write (partly) because i was trying to keep it ensemble-based and not get too caught up in Pam's head (i ♥ Pam, oh man, and i'm glad you liked her here.), but that paragraph snuck in there and i was happy with it.

I've barely seen more than two, maybe three, episodes of The Office? But this fic is just *wonderful*, funny and drab and heartfelt and silly all at once. I love the multimedia-ness of it (I wish more fics played with such things), your voices are spectacularly funny and sweet, and I could probably quote the whole thing back to you, but -- I shouldn't.

That said, A dozen red for love, a dozen yellow for friendship---which is the foundation on which all love is built, and a dozen pink, which is for...I think breast cancer awareness. Because there's no better way to show someone you love them than to look out for their health made me GUFFAW and scare the cat.

it's so nice of you to read this, having not seen a lot of the show. :) i'm glad you liked it---i can't resist a multi-media fic, myself, and i had so much fun doing the pictures for this, so i'm thrilled that they work in context. i wanted to do a little soundtrack, too, but ended up not having the time.

it was suspiciously easy to get all the voices down (particularly Michael's, and i was fond of the breast cancer awareness roses, too), because everyone on the show does such fantastic, distinct deliveries that i sort of just sat back and listened to their voices in my head.

This fic is seriously fantastic. The characterization, the visual elements, the pink roses for breast cancer awareness...there were so many things I loved, I don't think I can even list them all. I'm still grinning over it. :D

thanks so much! i'm glad you liked the characterizations, because the dialogue mostly just...felt right to me while i was writing, but i always feel like i can never really tell with my own work, you know? i'm happy to have made you grin.
