Title: Black Truths
Pairing: OnKey
Rating: G
Genre: Angst
Summary: Lies had never been sweeter.
Notes: Sequel to White Lies - I suggest you read that first since you'd only get confused otherwise. And btw, this is angsty as the first one. D;

"I hope you're happy with Jonghyun."

It wasn't often that Jinki lied. But lying was an easy defence when you had a broken heart.

Key's smile is painful to look at, so Jinki looks down at their intertwined hands as Key says, "I hope you're happy with Taeyeon too." Key squeezes his hand lightly. "That will always be our secret."

Yes, the secret. One of the few things left that bound Jinki to Key. He nods, wishing he had the courage to say the truth.

The black, solid truth that the secret was his biggest lie.

-------------------------------------------

The fateful day had left a deep mark on Jinki, and no matter how much he tried, he couldn't, and wouldn't ever forget it.

The day Key had admitted he'd been attracted to Jonghyun and even Minho, but not him. He, who had been hiding feelings for Key, just waiting for his chance to confess them.

"He's so clumsy, and whatever he does, it's Onew Sangtae. You're such a dork, hyung. You're not manly at all."

Clumsy. Awkward. Dork. Key had always been concise at everything he does, even at slicing Jinki's heart to pieces.

He had somehow managed to force out a laugh from the oppressing feeling gathering at his chest, quickly slapping on the smile he had worked so hard on.

The smile that belonged to 'Onew', because 'Onew' was the refined version of Lee Jinki. Onew is never upset, always smiling even when his world was collapsing around him, and can manage to stay strong in any situation.

That was the day Lee Jinki had failed, and Onew had to step in to keep his dignity intact.

His quick laughter was the first of many lies to follow.

-------------------------------------------

Jinki could never hate Key, even if he wanted to. But God, it hurt. Rejection really hurt.

The first time Jinki met Key, he had been a newly-appointed trainee, shuffling along the wide corridors of the SM Trainee building, peeking inside the training rooms with a mixture of envy and awe. Everyone was so beautiful, so amazing, and he felt very much like the ugly duckling amidst swans.

Then he saw Key.

He was simply Kim Kibum then, simply a younger boy dancing with such intense concentration in the middle of the mirrored room, moving with fluid grace to the beat of the music, and at the same time alternating between rapping and singing.

Jinki had been so stunned, he had simply stayed there, awestruck until Key had finished practicing and left the room, throwing him a curious look.

The next time he and Key met, it was on the meeting of the formation of the new group. Key had come in with another boy, and they seemed to be the closest of friends, and he would later find out that the boy was Jonghyun. Two other boys followed, Choi Minho and Lee Taemin, and together they formed the 'contemporary band' SHINee...

Jinki was by no means extraordinary. He was plain-looking next to Minho's flaming charisma. He wasn't cute like Taemin. He wasn't manly like Jonghyun. He wasn't multi-talented like Key.

He was simply an ordinary boy with big dreams. The only thing he was proud of was his voice.

Even then, the constant comparison to Jonghyun was beginning to take its toll on him. "Who's the best singer in SHINee? Jonghyun." He wanted to say he was a good singer too. He was tired of people saying he was just the clumsy leader who had a Sangtae.

Most of all, he wanted Key to notice him too.

-------------------------------------------

After that day, Jinki had began to distance himself.

He wasn't even aware he was doing it. His body seemed to go on auto-pilot after the incident.

Jinki was grateful for Taeyeon's companionship. Taeyeon, one of his first friends as a trainee. Taeyeon, the only person who knew about his feelings for Key.

He was beginning to feel like a fifth wheel in the group, what with everyone establishing a 'best friend' relationship. Perhaps it was better that he found Taeyeon; they were more similar to anybody than anybody else, knew exactly how heavy the burden was to be a leader.

The constant time they spent together, however, led to curiosity.

"Kiss me."

They had been in the dressing room, nobody in sight. He couldn't believe he had asked that question, and Taeyeon's wide eyes told him he shouldn't have. He was about to laugh it off when Taeyeon pressed those soft lips on his.

It felt nice. It was sweet, and it felt like there were butterflies in his stomach. It was calming, much like Taeyeon's effect on him.

But in his mind and heart, an inner turmoil raged.

Key. Kibum.

Taeyeon suddenly tore away when a loud gasp echoed in the room. They both looked up to see Key, of all people, standing there with such a dumbstruck expression on his face. Jinki saw heartbreak in the other boy's eyes, and was confused.

"Key--" he had began, but Key was shaking his head, slowly backing away.

"I won't tell anybody," Key had said, before running off.

So the lie began.

-------------------------------------------

Taeyeon deserved better than being Key's replacement. And Taeyeon had told him, right after that kiss, just that. Then Taeyeon laughed, saying it felt nice, but felt like kissing her brother. Jinki wholeheartedly agreed.

Then one day, the manager calls him to his dorm for a private meeting.

His manager-hyung looks grim. "Jinki-ah, I've been hearing rumours." He had blinked, confused. His hyung sighs. "Rumours about you and Taeyeon."

Still, Jinki is confused. "Taeyeon...?"

"Somebody told me you two are together."

Jinki's eyes widen.

-------------------------------------------

"How could you?"

Key doesn't say a word, and Jinki shakes him roughly. Gone was the gentle Onew, replaced by this angry, hurt Jinki. "Kibum, how could you?"

How could he, indeed. Key had no regrets for his actions. Perhaps his only regret was seeing Jinki getting hurt.

"Kibum."

Key wonders how his name could sound so beautiful yet so heartbreaking from Jinki's lips.

He wants to say the words he had been wanting to say for so long, but once again, he does not.

"Because I love Taeyeon."

Because I love you, Jinki. Because he loved Jinki, he had lied that it was him who was in a relationship with Taeyeon. Because he loved Jinki, he had taken the punishment for having forbidden relationships.

"Kibum. Kibum, look at me." Key didn't want to. Not when tears were gathering in his eyes and falling down his cheeks. He was the Almighty Key, he was supposed to be strong.

Most of all, he didn't want to see the tears in Jinki's eyes from Key's selfishness.

"Kibum. Look at me and tell me." Jinki forces his chin up, and Key can barely see from the tears making his vision cloudy. But he forces out the lie one more time, stubbornly refusing to meet Jinki's eyes.

"Because I love Taeyeon." Jinki slowly lets go of him, and Key's heart breaks some more.

Suddenly, Jinki says, "Tell me more."

So Key says more lies. "Jonghyun and I are in a relationship, but I love Taeyeon." The whole time, he refused to look at the other boy.

"More."

Key was tired, so his heart comes up with the biggest lie of them all, looking up at the sky.

"I don't love you."

"When I lie, I can't look at the other person's eyes since I'd feel guilty." Key admitted absently.

"Oh? Then do you like me, Kibum?" Jinki teased.

"Stupid, of course not!" But Key's eyes were steadfastly watching the TV, his cheeks pink.

Jinki's heart sings.

Jinki roughly cups the younger boy's chin and slams his lips on top of Key's. The younger boy chokes out a gasp, obviously surprised, but Jinki doesn't care. He pours out all the passion and love in his system in the kiss until Key responds, softening.

Then Jinki abruptly pulls back, a hand fisted on Key's soft hair.

Key's eyes are still bright with tears, and Jinki's eyes are sparkling with the same crystal drops. But Jinki finally understands.

Jinki's heart sang again.

-------------------------------------------

This was uber delayed, and even then I'm still not satisfied with it. :( I really wasn't planning on making a sequel for White Lies, but since a lot of people wanted one I thought I'd make the effort. D; So if this is too much fail, I'm not entirely surprised T____T
I got so stuck with the last part, so I feel like it's extra fail. :( Argh T_T
On a happy note,Happy Birthday Minho! :D(I think it's already 10th December there, but it's still 9th in England lol.)
