the writing is still going, and going ... and going.
I lost the last 3 chapters in a hard disk crash (backups? what are those?) so I'm reconstructing at the moment.
the second half of chapter 29, chapter 30, and part of 31 are reconstructed. chapter 32 (which is the climax) is still pretty much in my head, so when I get there again I'll be able to write it.
then there'll be an epilogue to segue into the second book, and I can go back and edit the early stuff and take out all the contradictions and such.
so the writing goes quite well - it's been a big help through the transition process.
Chapter reconstruction to get to the last chapter? Hey, that is the on-ramp to Chapter 32. :)
I imagine the having the writing would be a very solid touchstone during the current process. I envy all your writing time. I average about an hour and a half of concentrated time every day. I am mostly useless in the evenings after work (7.5 hours of document formatting and editing will do that).
At the moment I am weeding the major contradictions and useless material out of the earlier chapters - and working out how all those various chapters fit together (organised structure? what is that?)
I can't believe I wrote some of this stuff two (or more) years ago. Even my writing style has changed in that time.
it was just so bloody annoying. I'd taken the laptop into the computer shop to ask them to ghost the hard drive because I wanted to replace the drive with a larger one. They said they would, but could they do it later in the week or the following week because it was right on income tax time and they were flat out. I said sure.
That night I plugged in the laptop, and the drive had died. Endless cycling reboot-bluescreenofdeath. :-(
and so far no-one's been able to recover data off the drive :-( I'm incredibly pissed off at my own stupidity for not having made a backup of the novel and the last few days of pictures from my trip.
my writing has improved considerably over the last 16 months. I'm happier with my characters too, they are much better visualised and fleshed out than they were then.
even if they do still occasionally argue with me in french and russian. :-)
heartfelt and warm congratulations, what wonderful news! :-) i have an lj friend i would like to introduce you to.. adamantine1... he is away for a couple of weeks on vacation right now, but if it is ok with you i will introduce azhdragon to him in the meantime. i think he would be a great support to 'it's a guy thing' as well, but i will leave that up to you... see if you guys click first... and a big happy hug to you! :-) :-)

it seems to me that I've seen adamantine's username around somewhere before ... I'll check out his journal.
I do belong to a few ftm communities on lj, but it seems like there are always new ones to discover :-)
