Oh man, that's a hard (but I think right) decision. Fairfax's distance learning program is agonizingly tough, and I'm not sure the shift back to in-person is going to be better, if it happens at all. I really wish they'd relax some of the rules around asking for an extra year in a job because of the pandemic, since everything is so kittywampus right now anyway, but that would involve compassion and forethought, which we don't do.
Honestly, they really should have asked the people who were supposed to PCS last summer if they'd be willing to stay for another year - not a guarantee, but figure if the folks in the job and the folks taking over that job didn't want to move, then it'd be an easy decision at least some of the time.
But it'd also have been a nightmare to organize. Not that the PCS was easy for anyone - we sponsored two families last summer, and one still hasn't shown up!
Like you say, though. Compassion! Forethought! *snort*
(In the meantime, and this you will appreciate: the embassy's commissary sent around a list of the items they're willing to deliver to us this week. The first three things listed are alcohol.)
That is amazing. I'm glad that they have been in a classroom for your sake, too. I'm really sorry that you will be separated from your husband during this next year but you had to do what is best for your family.
