I'm not very religious, but isn't the whole point that he was, essentially the first Christian, or "invented" Christianity (along, I suppose, with God, if you go in for that kind of thing).
:)......well i dont wanna spoil this, but the answer is no. jesus was a jewish reformer. he never set out to start his own religion. that was paul and constantines doing. jesus was actually trying to correct injustices he saw in the hebrew religion
Hmmm...I'm going to have to peek at this entry later, once someone guesses the right answer!
I don't know how religious you are, and I hesitate to recommend the book if you're extremely Christian, but I just finished reading "Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal" by Christopher Moore. I found it MOST excellent. (It asks the question: what happened to make Christ CHRIST? What was there between the whole manger/three wise men scene up until the loaves and fishes). I think that anyone (even Christians with an open mind and a sense of humor) would love it.
heh...that does sound funny. im actually not a christian, im actually an eclectic pagan with a very high respect for jesus as a teacher and a philosopher. actually i believe that about 90% of the christian worl has completely missed the point of his teachings
Re: The Bible was all, "I am God, and I worship me, and I'm pure awesome!!!"aztlanMay 17 2006, 00:25:46 UTC
not really.......jesus often said that he was the son of god, but that was followed by "as we all are." in fact the gospels werent even written by the apostles themselves. they were usually written decades, sometimes even centuries after the apostles died. so theyre even close to accurate.
He was not a Christian... he would not have gone in for "me-ism" he was a humanist and an visionary and he is none of the things that man and various kings have turned his legacy into.
NOW I am ANYTHING BUT Christian, but I have immense respect for Christ and what he as a man really stood for.
jewish by birth. christianity was based on his his idealogy. he was a jewish profit, so to speak, at the time. i believe. although, i could be totally wrong, but that was his "religion" at the time. and, the jews still consider him a profit and are awaiting the true messiah if i'm not mistaken.
