Dude. The last het I read was Lily/James Potter about, oh, I dunno, four years ago? And I'm, like, SUPER STRICT OTP person, no one else will do, etc., etc. But I loved this. I can imagine Morgana and Merlin turning to each other, and their magic makes it that much better. Merlin getting fucked will never not be sexy, no matter who does the fucking, I think. Plus, it's Morgana, which- yum.

Thanks! I was a little shocked at committing het. But I think I can alt-ship Merlin/Morgana precisely because they are never going to work out and therefore it doesn't interfere with my OTP. And Morgana is just that hot. And as much as I love toppy Merlin (and I do), there is something viscerally satisfying about Merlin on his back getting fucked. Mmm.

I keep waiting for that fic, the one with all the roles reversed by gender, where Morgana is the prince(ss) with the phallic swords and the mommy issues and Arthur's parents died when he was young and Nimueh is Gwen's confidante and mom-figure and Merlin is still the newbie in town who gets tossed to the frustrated Arthur by an equally frustrated Ygraine....

I really, really love that idea. Like crazy, actually. Couldn't Nimueh take Gaius' place as Merlin's mentor in morals-and-magic? And Merlin would be a girl, too, right?

I love the idea of Merlin/Morgana and you just... this was *awesome* and I loved the characterizations, and the sex, and the magic, and the *sex magic*, and the bit of Merlin/Arthur that crept in.

I really love Morgana "on top." And somehow Merlin's servant position coupled with his huge magic power (and rather sweet personality), and his willingness/desire to "yield" make him a lovely foil to her.

I also liked that this was Morgana pov, so I could imagine that Merlin himself wasn't thinking about Arthur here and now with Morgana. More that Morgana mixes past and present and future together due to her gifts. (Just a slightly slightly less bittersweet interpretation as I am a sap.)

I like that reading myself. Merlin can't control what he dreams or who he's in love with, but I think his kindness (if nothing else) would keep him from deliberately thinking about Arthur when he's with Morgana.
