Help a noncrafty girl out wouldya? Is anyone of the crochety type (the craft not the mood)? Any tips, books, websites etc you could reccomend? Any simpleton patterns you could suggest? I have been doing a few you tube clips namely this users: http://www.youtube.com/user/Bethintx1Read more... )

The #1 crochet book I recommend is "The Happy Hooker" (snort) which is the crochet companion to the Stitch'n'Bitch book.
Also, make sure you're holding the yarn and the hook correctly - I wasn't when I first started and my tension was much too tight.
Other than that, trial and error!

I agree with getting the Happy Hooker. Other than that, go ahead and let your tension be loose at first while you're learning. Better too loose than too tight.
