career thoughts

Now that the baby is here and happy I am starting to think about putting plans into action so that I can return to (or indeed join) the paid workforce sometime in the future. The main part of my plan is to finish my PhD by the end of the year and most likely starting with part time work at the beginning of next year. I have been pretty sure for a ( Read more... )

I found TAFE lecturing had a steep learning curve but there's a lot of freedom and flexibility (as a casual, anyway). I also prefer to be teaching adults, as you don't spend all your time on behaviour management.

I also meant to say, you can do a 2 weeks Cert IV TAA, but it's usually followed by weeks/months of putting together assessment material - in your spare moments, but it can definitely drag on, so keep that in mind when you're planning.

I definitely like the idea of teaching adults, the behaviour management aspects of school teaching are definitely a negative there.

Hmm... a two week course that keeps going and going is far less appealing. That would explain why there is such a huge range of different time commitments for the same qualification depending on where you study--at some places it can be up to 6 months.
