Last week we made the decision to put our 15 year old dog to sleep. She was mostly blind and deaf, had stopped eating her food, wasn't drinking enough, had lost a great deal of weight ..... it was time. We spent the week feeding her soft food like hard boiled eggs, hot dogs, and cooked turkey. I had to give her water with a syringe several times

I'm so sorry about Sandy. I know it was time, but it's still a hard thing.

And I am SO SO SO glad that you are taking some time off around Abby's birthday. I was so concerned last year when you had to power through on her special day. It felt terribly wrong to me.
