Give a little, take a little

Tempest has been having these wild mood swings lately that are as exhausting as they are frustrating. When she's in the midst she's red-faced, squalling and hollering at the top of her lungs like she's 3 years old again and just wants to hear herself scream. I'm left rather baffled on how to respond to her in a positive or productive way because ( Read more... )

That was my initial suggestion to her. It didn't really matter what was said, she was just cycling at that point. Only once she'd come completely down did she take the idea to heart.

I originally just signed up to reserve the name. That and it occurred to me that a lot of old timey OD people are moving there and I can't read them anymore unless I'm a member (MissMeg, et al). But shit is OD a big pile of crap these days or what? I don't know why I bother, other than the nostalgia. :-/

I'm cracking up over the LifeTouch photo! LOL! I used to work for them. Now there are people like me who have a love for photography and took time with the kids to make their photos the best that we could believe they could be (only meeting the child for the first time, taking the photo in our 30 seconds we are given, and not knowing their true smile or personality and not getting the time to learn it). When I worked at very small schools, (think private - 50 or less children where I was the only photographer) I never had retakes so I think I must of done a decent job! But on the other hand, they hire people off the street, the computer system is completely automated, it calibrates the lights, etc. and they have to know nothing more than how to pose the child, scan a card and click a button, they get paid noodles to do so, and have to drive their own car sometimes up to 3 hours away from their home ( ... )

Reading about your experiences with Tempest brings back all the years I struggled with my Leah. We had day after day just like the one you described ( ... )

Oh god, Lifetouch. I need to upload Alex's prek photo for you to see. I don't know what they told him to do, but he's grimacing so badly that you can see all of his teeth. Not smiling, no emotion, just TEETH. It's still the worst school picture ever for our family.
