The k'tan is great for small babies, but not for a 14 month old. I probably stopped using mine around 15 pounds. They are stretch, so the weight really pulls down. Action baby carriers are a good budget option. Have you considered buying used? The facebook swap and the forum at thebabywearer.com are good places to buy used carriers.

i tried the k'tan and was really hopeful, but it was so uncomfortable as a plus size :( coincidentally i LOVED the beco butterfly and am really looking forward to using it again with #2. i didn't use it at 14 mos though. but you can find them used, i bought mine through a cloth diapering forum that had a section for selling.

A buckle carrier is probably the way to go, though I can't comment on how particular brands work for plus-size. You can often find used ones on craigslist or in the babywearing swaps (thebabywearer.com has for sale or trade boards and there's also a facebook swap: https://www.facebook.com/groups/thebabywearingswap/ )

Ergo, Beco, Olives & Applesauce are all good options... they are pricier than the Ktan, but a stretchy wrap will not be supportive for a 19lber (I stopped using our stretchy wrap when my son was ~14 lbs).

You might also have some luck with mei tais, but I prefer buckle carriers for really active use.

I hope you find something that works for you!

There's an Ergo listed for $90 including shipping right now on the facebook swap, which seems like a pretty good deal!

Oh... also... do you live near any place where you could try some carriers on before purchasing?

That's how I picked my Olives and Applesauce over a Beco... it really comes down to personal preference/comfort, so trying on in advance is helpful.

Olives and Applesauce didn't fit me (I'm plus size) and I was so bummed, but Ergo (sport or performance) and Boba fit me well.

Mei tai will be your least expensive option, but if you're willing to shop used, or save for a couple months, I really recommend a kinderpack or tula, or a woven wrap. The buckle carriers can be very difficult to find one that works perfectly with your body, but those two brands have good reviews. A woven wrap has a steeper learning curve (and can be warmer), but is infinitely adjustable to the wearer and baby as time passes and bodies change.
