I saw LOTR: Something About A King today. I figured...what the Hell, it can't possibly be more boring than an afternoon of watching soaps with my mother (on full blast volume) while she snores in her cocktail

I'm not a Tolkien devotee, and I thought The Two Towers was actually pretty boring, but Frodo goes through a pretty big change. Besides just about going crazy, he also achieves heroism and then has to go back to a "normal" life ... and finds that it's not enough for him.
I really loved that this huge epic action movie ended with notes of contemplation and regret.

I agree. This is why this is the best of the three movies IMO, because of the last 20 minutes of the movie, where we finally see something really emotional...really human.
Oh, Dave. You know, I tried desperately to read the books and ended up tossing them across the room in both boredom and frustration. I just like the movies. A lot.
If I didn't find the above SO FUCKING amusing (he apparenly doesn't have any Legos!), I'd probably rant back at you. Ah well. To each his own.
ok you have some very good points and all that and you are very well expressed. so much so that bearizona and I were wondering about you Uphill both ways schedule. When are you bringing it to Phoenix? All great comedy travels, right?... LOL Maybe we'll just have to come out west for a view of your comedy.
LOL. if you can book us in Phoenix, we'll perform in Phoenix. At this point, we go where-ever there's an opening. We're not that big yet (only two years old) - the only out-of-town gig we've done was this one we did in NYC in October. We hope to peform in L.A. this year, and maybe get into a festival or two around the country that will take us elsewhere.
However, if you make it to the Bay Area in 2004, the only dates we're scheduled to perform (so far) are Jan 14, Jan 18, and all four Fridays in March. You guys make it up here for a show, the tix are on me and I'll buy you dinner, too!
