[Near the fountain walks a slender redhead with a Rottweiler on a leash. She was more or less lost in her thoughts, hands thrust into her pockets and not really watching where she was walking. She hasn't payed much attention to the Network since the weekend, with the exception of a post or two from people she knew. She certainly hasn't noticed

"May I escort you back to your apartment building?"

Anna stood, keeping distance between herself and Kaname. She was so intent on not looking at him, that she didn't look where she was going and she tripped on Bobby's leash.

Pushing the thought aside, Kaname found himself kneeling on the ground, cradling Anna in his arms. "Are you alright, Miss...
"Mil... ton..?"
Reply
Oh, God, not again...
"Don't look at me!"

However, he did not have the opportunity to find out.
He felt his eyes burning... it felt like he had seen something he shouldn't have. It took everything in him to keep from crying out, but he needed to control himself; control the power within him, else he might end up killing her.
A soft moan escaped his lips as he raised his free hand, covering his eyes in pain. Black tears fell and his fangs began to show as he breathed heavily, trying to calm himself... even if the pain was unbearable, he refused to be overcome by it.
Despite such dire circumstances, he did not let her go. He may have squeezed her arm a little, but not enough to hurt her.

Bobby growled and placed himself in-between Anna and her would-be escort, even as Anna was stammering apologies.

It took him a moment to realize his eyes were actually open... yet only darkness met his gaze. Despite being a pure-blooded vampire, his healing ability was limited against someone so holy.
He caught his breath, still kneeling on the ground... Listening carefully to Anna's voice, then the dog's bark, he turned to their direction before speaking calmly, "Are you... alright... Anna?"

She rubbed at her eyes, seriously she should have gotten a blindfold or something on her way back from the hospital, maybe those glasses that people were wearing.
"You can't see can you? I've blinded you, too, haven't I?"

For a minute or two, he kept himself close to the ground, trying to remember exactly where he was when he caught Anna. Thankfully, his enhanced hearing allowed him to "see" by means of echolocation. He hasn't used this ability in a long time, but he had to learn quickly.
Slowly, he got up, realizing finding his balance without his sight was a bit of a challenge.
"Is this what the curse is about?" he asked, "Visions? And taking the sense of sight?"

"The blindness... that's what you get when you see... what I am without any illusions."

He managed to "see" the bench where Anna sat previously and carefully sat down. His head continued to throb in agonizing pain, but somehow, the black tears had disappeared, leaving only clear white irises instead of his reddish-brown ones.
"If I had to guess..." he said, as he looked for his medicine case for a blood tablet, "you are quite the opposite of me.
"A child of Light, as I am that of Darkness."
He took two tablets and swallowed them to help ease his need. If Anna wished to fight or hunt him now when he is at a disadvantage, things would not end well. He'd have to think of something quickly.

He found the bench, so that was good. As Anna watched, she realized that he was still somehow able to "see" which gave him an advantage over Peter and Inara.
"Is the pain awfully bad? I know it faded for the others fairly quickly."

"That, or my body is attempting to heal my eyes without much success."
He raised his hand in front of him, looking at it without actually seeing. "I have read Angels falling from Heaven in fictional literature in my world. I never thought real ones existed in this City."
There was a sad smile on his face. He would not blame her if she too, wanted him dead... like most hunters from his world.

His words echoed through her mind, he seemed so... nice. But even Lucifer smiles, she reminded herself.
"There aren't many, it's... hard. Falling. You're usually killed for your disbelief before you can fall. You're not... like the vampires in my world."

He thought about her words for a moment before replying calmly, "Perhaps... God, if that is what you call the Ruler of Your Heaven, is on your side. Which is why you were spared from death despite such rebellion."

Her rueful chuckle became an outright laugh. "Yeah, right. God on my side. I doubt that, He's not really on anyone's side anymore."
