Remember how vampires used to be cool?

I just watched the trailer for New Moon, the upcoming Twilight sequel. There goes two minutes I'll never get back.

It kills me that the Twilight series has become as big as it has. As I was watching the preview I kept thinking to myself "Wow, this looks like One Tree Hill except with more vampires and shirtless boys." At least all these kids are ( Read more... )

I can't tell if you're joking or not. You're one of the few people who has that effect on me.

Awesome Morgan Freeman gif, btw.

I think it's plain by my icon that I'm perfectly serious.

Honestly though, I agree that Twilight is great if you're 18 or younger. But I didn't think Dusk 'Til Dawn was that great. Now, 'Shadow of the Vampire'... THERE was a good vampire flick.

[I'd like some more make-up.]

God damn you and your various magical icons.

I'll agree that From Dusk Till Dawn is one of the odder and more off-the-wall type horror movies. But how can you deny the magic of scenes like this:

Shadow of the Vampire is a good call too. Yay film history.

FDTD is great until the vampires show up. That isn't to say the notion of vampires showing up where they do in the story is bad: the execution and fx are a big turnoff to me. I like Rodriguez so much, I wish I could stand his movies.

Near Dark. The Lost Boys. Interview with The Vampire. Robert Sean Leonard's winning turn in My Best Friend Is A Vampire.

I've never gotten around to seeing The Hunger. I ought.

Similarly to FDTD, Vampires is about half of a great movie. I would rather like to see a faithful adaptation of the ripping novel on which it is based, Vampire$.

Innocent Blood is fucking AWESOME.

A thematic certainty is that vampires will always be about sex and youth. Twilight brings nothing new to the table in this regard.

I have a soft spot for the first Blade.

So: somebody gets shot in slow motion to that fucking song at the end of a season of (guh) the OC. Samberg and Lebouf do a parody. it's now a meme.
