i really wish i had a mothering mentor, a woman who has children older than mine whose ways i respect & desire. i've got lots of close friends with young children, and i love them & respect them, but i'm missing that nurturing.

I can totally relate. I have nothing but terrible role models for this in my real life. I have found a lot of wonderful mommy bloggers who are helpful, but it's just not the same. I wish I had someone I could call. Well, yo uknow what, the leaders of my LLL group have children who are 8 and 10ish, so I bet I could "use" them....
You could come to next month's meeting if you want. It's the 3rd Tuesday of the month in Hyde Park at 6:30 pm.

It's a very important relationship, to have someone close to you like that. My mommy mentor lives in India :(

I'm grateful for the kinship of other mothers but the role of someone who's ways you'd like to emulate---priceless.

I hope you find her :)

it is difficult because my close girl-friends that have children, we are all trying to parent similarly & have similar methods, desires, etc... but none of us can really encourage the other when it comes to phases our kids are going through because they are all so close in age! my doula-mentor has a wonderful relationship with her grown children, and i love talking with her about that. i will keep hoping for the relationship from someone & meanwhile be thankful for the relationships i Do have :)
