The same thing happened with me. When I joined the fandom I was so excited and made friends with so many people. I ended up being overwhelmed and avoided the internet a lot and did disappear for a bit. When I was around, I wasn't as chatty as I use to be and still to this day wonder off from the messengers easily. I tend to not sign into messengers still or go invisible and just talk to a few people over messengers.
I'm at a comfortable level with my socialness within the fandom. I post in my LJ almost daily and use FA to post my art. Other than that I've dropped from most other furry-related sites because they just can't keep my interest. I use other outlets besides the fandom which keeps me from getting totally bored with furries by just focusing on the fandom which was my mistake when I joined the fandom. --
It's good to see you back, I hope you do post more often and find a comfortable medium between IRL and the fandom/internet.
*nods*.. it sounds like you've had a very similar experience. It's definitely not too difficult to be overwhelmed within the fandom.. but yes, a happy medium is exactly where I want to be. Not quite as elusive as usual, but certainly not as "always available" as I used to be!
I hear ya! I think part of my problem in the past was that I interacted with a lot of people whom I didn't really share interest in, or people I just didn't necessarily "click" with. I certainly don't have to "click" with everyone I meet, but eh.. I find it hard these days to strike up conversations with those I don't know.
As Mazz said above, a happy medium is definitely the place to be. And for the record, you've always been one of the nicest people out there... just a little bit aloof! I know how that goes :)
I hope that you find what you're looking for just the same as myself!
Ive always tried to keep my livejournal a little less wacky and a little more "serious and journaley"... but there's definitely stuff I could be sharing that would be worth posting! That's not to say funny video's and silly posts aren't awesome... yours are most certainly among the best!
I've still been lurking and reading your posts! It's funny to hear the "omg where did you go!" stuff.. cause I haven't stopped reading LJ at all :)
Its good to hear from you!! And no.. you most certainly are not anyone that has ever put me off or disappointed me in any way! I always enjoy reading your posts and hearing from ya. Definitely would like to meet you as well someday! I'm SURE it will happen :)
