i think that much of the pleasure which i derive from listening to music is a result of nostalgia. it just makes me emotional, the past feelings with which i associate different songs and such. but such feelings are far too distant now. the hurricane and the drastic and abrupt changes which followed it have too greatly distanced myself from them. i

When immersing yourself in the constant reminder of Katrina, it is far too easy to become immune to the tragedy. Living in the bowels of such a disaster causes distance, a separation of self and nature. It results in a lack of understanding the emotion and pain that actually occurred, an understanding we once had immediately after such affliction was wrought on us
