The man in the mirror

It's been a while since I posted anything, but I really haven't felt like updating or sharing. This topic has been on my mind a lot recently, though, so I guess it deserves a post. This is a long post about gender identity and what it means to be "male," so I'll put most of it under a cut.

Good seeing a post!

I feel just fine being on the "male end" I don't think any people I know in person have a problem with that too. I don't think WE want too much or that OUR expectations are too high...we just wanna be happy, at whatever it costs. I already know what makes a man and have told others...it's not what's in your pants in what's in your head/heart.

But for now, that hasn't happened. I don't necessarily think that the male identity/model we have now is negative. My future plans revolve around me simply being male, the husband, and the father. Not the transsexual. That doesn't mean that I'm not supportive of others who choose and keep those labels. That doesn't mean that I'm going to be a sexist, homophobic bastard.
I agree.

Thanks :-) It's nice to hear your opinion on this, too. I feel that I will be a man regardless of how "perfect" my body will or won't be.

I honestly didn't know there were trans people who prefer to be "in-between" genders. I always thought once you transitioned you would want to be entirely in the new gender. Sounds like an interesting book.

It's pretty interesting, but it's just a different way of being trans than I would prefer for myself. It has a lot of good content for friends/family members/loved ones about how to deal with trans person, too, and I'm thinking of giving it to my dad, even.

i might have to look into that book. I think if I were to transition, I like you would drop all Female pronouns and the trans lable. I mean you are male.

I agree with you, too, of course. To me the point of transitioning is to become male. It's nice to have options, though, for people who want them. It's a quick read and full of good advice on passing, relationships, transitioning on the job and other assorted topics.
