Arts/Sci

Finally back home late last night from the event and the gig - I attended Arts/Sci Fri-Sun. It was hot, but not as bad as it could be. No rain, which was good. Lots of entries - 38 I believe, and a high percentage were VERY good. We awarded 4 perfect scores (all 4 received a nonpariel as well) and 2 Laurel's acclaim awards. I was able to spend ( Read more... )

Yes, I do have a sister in Seattle - she is Baroness Tsuruko, of the Barony of Dragon's Lair.

Our freaken event this past weekend hit 108 degrees, and it was totally outdoors.

UGH!

We here from Sangre are really trying to do some performance art. Dmitri is working hard, but I get the impression that he is lacking on documentation. Any ideas on where I might point him? We need SIMPLE songs to start with, preferably in English with either scored music or a recording (even better).

What did you think of the piece done by Sangre (Vendome) for the Masque contest? Dmitri was unable to find documentation, and so decided on Masque rather than Art/Sci. Truth be told, even though it was a "simple" round, I thought it was a bit ambitious for a group to sing in performance after only four practices. I was unable to attend this weekend, so it was just the four of them....

wish I'd been dancing... feataure July 10 2006, 04:00:36 UTC
Damn! I missed the contra dance, which I usually made only once a month. But hey, I never caught you playing for them! I did drag my Mom along once and got her hooked. She has contacted the folks in Brevard and been taking the grand kids dancing! Somehow the group there suspected Laurel knew a thing or two... I sincerely missed dancing at Art-Sci and the whole event. :( I hope to find a lot of dancing in this new neck of the woods and catch up with you at Pennsic!

You're not very far from some Atlantian dancers of my acquaintance... close enough to see at events, maybe. Katherine Mercer is in Richmond Virginia, and she also does regency-era dance and maybe occasionally contra.

I wish there were more people working on music and dance in Trimaris too.
