Sorry, specific prompt.
Kanji, instead of joining the group, becomes your typical troubled teen. He fights, cuts class, and fights daily with his inner demons. After getting in trouble for the last time, Yasogami High puts him in a new experimental delinquent program. He has to spent at least one hour daily with a terminally ill patient at the hospital until the patient signs paper work affirming that the delinquent made them more comfortable in their final days. (or dies.)
Bonus points for Kanji/Teddie, Kanji/Naoto.
Thanks in advance!

OK, this one's definitely caught my eye. Haven't written Teddie before, but I've been wanting to. Plus, Kanji/Teddie is a secret love of mine. so I'm definitely gonna fill this.

He'd heard it too many times to take offense.

But Tatsumi-kun, you used to be such a good kid...

The silent but implied what happened no longer made freezing hands clench at his chest with a force that could take his breath away far more quickly than a bout of fist-fighting with some asshole thugs who could never be bothered to keep their motorcycle parading to the daytime when his mother wasn't trying to sleep.

He remembered the incident. Remembered it going viral, and the rumors that never quite made it out of earshot--

Oh man, did you hear about Tatsumi?--

I heard he broke a guy's neck--

The guy didn't even make it to the hospital according to--

That Tatsumi..He's out of control--

What is his mother going to do?--

--but honestly? If he were to be truthful for once in his life, not caustic and just so callous that whoever thought they could bring back that spark of good in him that his mother swore was there had no choice but to give up ( ... )

Or....Not.

Not a day had passed before Morooka called together a meeting of the entire school board and every staff member having to do with education in the area. Kanji sat beside his mom, dressed in a suit--his father's suit, dark and musty from disuse, and while it was too small on him, he still didn't feel like he filled it at all-- at her pleading whim (Kanji, please, you could be expelled! You can't give them any more reason to want you out of the school by dressing like that!). His mother, looking older than ever with her grey hair pulled back so tightly into a bun that it, ironically, almost smoothed out all the wrinkles he'd given her over the years, gripped his hand until her knuckles turned white ( ... )

He stared with the look of a cornered animal at the looming form of the Inaba Municipal Hospital, shoulders tense, face pale. His pupils constricted like a pinprick of black as his fight-or-flight instincts screamed at him to get the hell out of there

He'd practically begged and pleaded on his knees for anything but this.

He'd actually asked Dojima if expulsion was an option, to which he'd given the weirdest look, like Kanji had asked him how to fuck, and told him that, no, it wasn't.

"You better take your gifts when you get 'em, Tatsumi, because the world doesn't make a habit of doing favors." he'd told him as soon as his mother had gone out of earshot. "You're lucky; Morooka was actually pretty adament on this whole thing, and tried to fight for you to be put on this program." Kanji scoffed in disbelief. "Threw out some foreign quote about the self being hell, and redemption, and caring about others." Dojima shook his head, looking bewildered. "Either way, you won't get another chance like this, and he kind of made a point. So ( ... )

The hospital secretary gave him the most odd of looks when he approached, all nerve coiled up into a tense, angry demeanor that would suggest trouble if he hadn't been shaking in his well-shined boots.

However, that suspicious look she gave him, in which he could almost feel her hand on the hidden security button, drastically changed when he told her what he was here for--he looked down, glancing at the paper he'd been given; grimaced, read out the name hesitantly, as if sealing himself to some unknown fate--into a look of relief and, he thought, warmth ( ... )

Op!anon here. And oh my god I am LOVING this. This is so much better than I could have imagined. You even made Teddie so humble and fragile. I love you forever. This was a prompt I thought of like two years ago but could never successfully write myself, so to see it being written so beautifully by a wonderful anon is like holding a newborn baby. So. Excited for the continuation.

Oh my god this is more than I possibly imagined. I thought of this prompt years ago for a different game and never posted it anywhere, because frankly I didn't think anyone would be so kind as to fill it, and I am the worst at writing stories. I actually used to have such high hopes for this that I would dream about it, and how different things would become entwined in the story (the patient suddenly getting worse and being in ICU for a couple of days, Kanji struggling not to punch the lights out of anyone who talked about it, and Kanji holding hands with the patient until they both fall asleep.) Such little things really broke my heart when I thought about them being filled, you know? and now there's a wonderful anon here, breaking my heart every time I read this unfinished story. I love it. Thank you so much for filling this, you have no idea how grateful I am. I look forward so much to the continuation. <3

Writer!anon here, and trust me, hun, I know how that feels, to have an idea stuck in your head and to want to see it come to life so badly it hurts haha. Happens to me all the time, and I fancy myself more of an artist than a writer, so sometimes (too often) those ideas just stay these painful little ideas in my head.

But I love this prompt, and if I'm to be frank with you now, I think we're definitely on the same page, as I've had some similar plans in store for this. So hopefully I won't disappoint, and even bring you some surprises along the way. <3 (Maybe some art, too, once I get to the juicy bits of the story ahaha.)

I'm so happy you're enjoying it so far; I'll be sure to get the next part up as soon as possible.

Thank you so much! I love angst and drama, and you are absolutely one of the best writers I've seen here, or anywhere for that matter. At work today, I kept thinking of little possible things that could contribute to the story, like "What if Kanji got sick and couldn't visit?" or maybe just Kanji holding Teddie's hand as he falls asleep. Aaaah, gooey romance like that just makes me melt. You're the best. Do you have MSN?

"K....Kanji..." he mumbled out in reply with some force, and an audible strain to his voice.'Teddie' cocked his head slightly. "Uh...Tatsumi."

"Hm...Kanji...Kaaanji..." The boy seemed to roll the name off his tongue (testing it out?) and smiled to himself a little bit, just faintly; he even nodded, and Kanji felt as if he'd gained some all important seal of approval for...What, his name?

Either way, the boy wasn't flinching away from his outward appearance, and that, Kanji realized, was pretty bad for him, in a sense. He didn't dislike the kid or anything; he seemed alright, not the type he'd usually associate with. He was probably right around his age. Had to be only about fifteen or so. That was, in it's own way, terrifying. God, he was so scrawny, compared to Kanji, like the punk could break him just by touching him. When the boy sat up and leaned forward, appearing even smaller with his hospital gown hanging off of him, Kanji swore he could count the knobs of his spine running down his back through the fabric, and he had to sit ( ... )

So he just dropped into silence. Excited silence. But silence, nonetheless, with fidgety movements and nervous twitches, eyes begging him to be there, to talk to him, to interact, and.

How the hell was Kanji supposed to even react to that?

He didn’t know how to connect to well-adjusted people on a normal basis. Not when they were so absorbed in their own life and own issues and talking about them that he didn’t need to put a word in.

But put him together with someone else who was so unused to interacting with people, and you got this suffocating cloud of awkward silence. Kanji found himself nervously flicking his eyes up towards the clock, and-

And when his eyes came back, back to Teddie, those excited ticks had gone, and the corners of his mouth were drooping downwards with disappointment.

He caught that, ya idiot. Will ya quit acting like such a fucking pansy and talk to him? Make him at least think ya wanna be there?

You’ll never get your damn paper signed at this rate.Kanji cleared his throat. “Um. So. Teddie.” Teddie ( ... )

"PFFFFT, b--but, Kanji!! You can't be fur serious!! We've just gotten started---You can't pawsibly be done so soon!" Kanji roared with laughter, arm slung over his eyes as he threw his head back. He was laughing so hard, god, his ribs were even starting to hurt.

Teddie seemed to be in the same boat he was, laughing so hard his face was more red than an angry Morooka, tears making his cheeks glossy.

When he and Teddie were both calmer, now shaking with the after tremors and little giggles of a great laughing fit, he held up his hands, signalling a truce.

"Well..." he grinned, chuckling and panting just slightly. ".....abearently I am....Not!"

Their giggle fit begun anew, and it took the entrance of a nurse, curious about the source of the commotion, and some intense knuckle-biting to calm down.

"Now boys..." the nurse chuckled, shaking her head and glancing between the two of them with amusement and a great deal of relief--probably at seeing Teddie so happy. Kanji smiled, and for a moment he felt really proud of himself. "This is ( ... )
