It was still dark when Yosuke jerked awake, and he chalked it up to a mix of nerves and anticipation. Souji was still tucked against him, soft and warm and fast asleep, and Yosuke held him tight, closed his eyes, and tried to imagine the best possible outcome he could hope for. In an ideal world, Souji would pound Matsubara into the ground, but brutality wasn't Souji's style. No, he'd probably try to talk to him instead, which was a huge fucking joke when Yosuke really thought about it. Matsubara wouldn't be interested in anyone trying to understand him, or in defending his actions, or even in talking about himself, which arrogant bastards like him always loved to do. He, for some reason, would only be interested in humiliating Yosuke as much as possible, which meant that if Souji left him any opportunity to talk, Yosuke would definitely not like what he had to say. Maybe he'd have to hit first

Thank you so much for writing this, authornon ♥
It was amazing, and I loved it, and it made me have more feels for Yosuke (Souji, too, but Yosuke more) than I could handle ;A; I love your characterization of the two (loveddd your interpretation of Souji). You made them so adorable and believable and I just know I'll reread this fic sometime and my heart'll squeeze from their asdfgf[neog,iaelk-ness all over again~
Thank you again!
Would love to read more smut you've written of them hehhehheh

Oh, authornon, this was really good.
I love the way you write Souji. He feels everything that Yosuke feels but he keeps such tight control on himself and his emotions that Yosuke doesn't initially understand; he thinks it's because Souji doesn't feel these things, at least not very intensely, but he does. I also love that he trusted Yosuke enough to let himself break in front of him. The fact that he didn't beat those guys within an inch of their lives, despite wanting to with every fiber of his being - so very excellently Souji. And your take on his parents...just. Tears.
Then, of course, there's Yosuke, who feels so deeply and wants so badly to be loved, or even liked, that he's willing to do just about anything in exchange for even the illusion of it. One of the things that always struck me about his character in-game was how quickly he gave Souji so much of himself. If Souji had been the type of person to take advantage of that - like his former "friends" in this story - it would have been so easy for him to do. Yosuke is so

souji seems too well-adjusted to have really crappy or abusive parents. he also doesn't seem open enough to have really loving or emotionally supportive parents.
my heart just goes out to yosuke in all situations, really, but especially in situations when someone's manipulating him or playing on the aspect of his personality that so desperately wants to be liked in order to achieve their own end. souji is the first person who has wanted to be close to him with no strings attached and, yeah, i think yosuke would fall understandably hard for that. i think he does seem incredibly needy at first, but, well, that's okay. he's never had that before and he needs it... and he does eventually get to the point where it's no longer need and dependency but something a lot deeper and more secure.
