I know what you mean about love seeming more foreign now. It is scary. I don't know if this helps you at all, but here's the evolution of my view on what love is: when I was really little, I thought it was like my mom and dad, or my grandparents.....two people stuck with each other for life, and not really minding it. Then I went through puberty and saw the same romantic comedies over and over and concluded that it was that crazy, passionate, constant longing for each other. But of course, the long-awaited tear-jerking kiss at the end of the movie is not followed by the arguments, the accomodations, the compromises. Yes, love can be crazy and passionate, but I'm more willing to believe that you know you're in love when you get to a stalemate in your relationship and you realize that instead of backing out, you want to go further.....no, you want to go all the way. You have to believe that to be in love. But it's not something that hits you like a lightning bolt....it's more like you're sitting on the sofa one Tuesday afternoon ( ... )

i agree very much with your definition, you were able to articulate what i meant. but i still can't imagine it. ah well, that's what they call faith, right?
