Schlesinger and Iha I get. Hanson--OK, sort of. But Bun E. Carlos? The hell?

Which really plays up the Traveling Wilburys comparison. The other guys were shocked when Roy Orbison agreed to be in the band. Not surprising until you realize that the guys who were shocked and awed were George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, and Jeff Lynne.

Well, looks like all Taylor has to do is sing, which he's quite capable of.

I'm cool with Hanson. "Mmm-Bop" (or whatever it's called) is quite a good little pop song. And what I heard of their second album made me think they'd been listening to a lot of good blues- and soul-influenced stuff--Stevie Winwood circa Spencer Davis Group and early Traffic, most obviously. Those boys clearly have listened to a lot of older music and have gained a sense of rock history, which many young bands just as clearly haven't.
