I'm so sorry, honey. What a gorgeous boy, and what a great life. Nothing really helps, I know, but me and the kids are cuddling in his honor.

I've had to put three previous cats down, but they were at least 15 years old. He was just eight. This has been harder to deal with than any of the previous ones, and I am second-guessing everything I did in dealing with his illness and on that last day.

It will get better eventually, I guess. Going through the photos of him helped a lot; it made me smile to remember what a character he was.

What a beautiful, beautiful boy. I see just what you mean about his size! And what a fabulous life he had with you. Even though I'm sure it's little comfort at the moment, what a lovely last day you had together.

He was very handsome indeed, and he knew it. That white fur was always pristine.

He wasn't that big a cat, truly. I don't think he ever topped 14 pounds, but he was a bit loaf-shaped for a while. He had a presence that matched his size, which has become very clear in his absence. The house feels empty, even though there are four other cats here. It's very strange.

If I'd known the last day would be the last day...well, that kind of thinking won't get me anywhere.
