I got a sympathy card yesterday from the emergency hospital that treated BoyCat over the past couple of months and on Tuesday night. ( Lots of rambling about BoyCat plus a photo )
It really is therapeutic. That was a lovely gesture from the vet's office, but I have to admit -- if mine had sent a pawprint of Sophie's afterward, I'd have bawled, too. They ARE part of our family, and the loss is bone-deep.

Yeah, it was instantaneous. I saw it and just broke down. When the crematorium called me to finalize the arrangements, they asked me if I wanted a pawprint taken to put on an urn, and I said no and then had second thoughts. So I was shocked but ultimately very glad to have the inked pawprint.
I spent a good bit of the day looking at urns online. There are some beautiful ones, and it will be hard to choose.

Today was a better day. But his ashes should be ready in the next couple of days, and picking them up will bring on the waterworks again.
He was such a special cat. It's amazing how a house with four cats running around can still feel empty.
Hug your kitties for me!
