I'm about to archive Grrretal's Cult of Angel's picture soon. I was trying to think of a nice way to add something to it given her passing. I don't know if anyone on my friend's list knew her, but if you did and wanted to add a nice word or two about her, I'd appreciate it. I believe she had a live journal as well, but I'm not sure if it's still

Funny you should mention this now. Her mom posted a poem to grrretel's LJ a couple days ago via her friend dooomkitten.

It's really beautiful and would go great with your image of her. The post is here, in case you didn't see it.

Gretchen was a kick in the pants. It's funny. We met in an LJ community for a comic book we both collect. We painted the same thing on the back of our motorcycle jackets, and then found out we had the same haircuts and color. We used to joke about being twins.

She was "a delicate flower floating in the loo." I really miss her.

One of her friends wrote me for her mother asking about getting a print of the image I did of her. This reminded me that it was coming on a year since I did that picture of her. I sending out a couple prints I did of her to her mom and thought it would be nice to put something on her page. Thanks for pointing out her journal and the poem ;)

It's been almost a year since she died too. Pretty wild. I think you posted that drawing only a few months before she was bit by the spider.

I think the same friend that contacted you is planning a get together with her mom in Portland. She's a pretty good friend, even a year after her death! I may be in the Pacific Northwest around that time. If I can make it, I hope to stop in to pay my respects.

Yes, I put the image up only a couple weeks before hand. I visited her journal to see if anyone liked it and read about her illness and then her death. Very surreal and sad.

After reading the entries, I think it's the same friend too. I have her mother's home address now so I'm going to make a care package for her.

such a beutiful piece! Just wondering - and trying not to be rude. But how'd she pass?

I'm not completely sure. I didn't know her. She submitted some photos to me and was rather hyper and cute in her submission letter that I ended up using her photos right away.

I believe she had an infection from a spider bite which grew out of control. I don't really know the details. It was around May of last year.
