Votes for Women...er, um....Gays!beetlefuckOctober 24 2008, 17:00:21 UTC
It was really refreshing to see a minister of a Christian congregation standing up for this.
You know what totally cracks me up? Those ads for YES ON PROP 8! OMG! They are teaching our children about marriage in second grade! Hide yourselves!
All of those ads are sponsored by the Knight of Columbus and Focus on the Family....read: Catholic.
Leave it to the Catholics to resort to fear and guilt. I feel so sorry for the people who buy into that line of argument.
I was recently at a house party with a lot of lesbians, one of whom brought some Vote No on Prop 8 stickers. The slogan of the night was "Support The Gays!"
I may just have to slip that into conversation every once in a while...."Support The Gays!!!"

The line of reasoning that says, "if you vote yes on 8,, i.e., amend the CA constitution, then "they" won't teach about same sex marriage in our schools"--which is ridiculous if you think about it: are they going to just ignore the states of Connecticut and Massachusetts when they get to that part of Social Studies. I picture elementary school teachers telling their student to put their fingers in their ears and sing, "LaLaLaLa, I can't hear you!"
I'm a Long Beacher... we're looking for a new minister since ours is going to retire after this church year... hope we get someone motivating! Other than our No on Prop 8 movement, the place feels like little quiet to me, politically. Although overall I love all our Social Action Committee projects... especially for the kids! They made cat toys and dog biscuits for the local animal shelter last month.
