Well, I wrote this fic for a challenge that I thought ended today but apparently ends September 18th. Oh well, it's not like I'll have more time to work on it later. Thanks and big smooches to sweeneybird for making time for me and for making the ending work.

I could pick out many many things that I love about this, but I'll just limit myself to one. The "call for help" passage is simply brilliant. You are so good at writing "funny" and then in a flash it's something else entirely, something deep and real. Thanks so much for this story; it's quite lovely.

Plus the subtitle is worth the price of admission. :D

I like. But I'm betting I'm the only one who's distracted by the title of the journal entry. I have vivid images of The Middle Of The Film in the Meaning of Life, with the bizarre butler with plastic man arms reciting "Fishy, fishy, fishy fish. And it went wherever IIIIIIII did go!"

I love this. The awkwardness when John goes to see Rodney, his falling back on charm was perfect. Rodney closing his eyes and then opening them and John seeing his resolve, John saying "help," it was all marvelous.

Awww, this was so adorable! I loved John and his sneaky wording, and how he opens up to Rodney so much, even though he's scared. This was just lovely.

Thanks! I'm glad you thought this worked. I'm always afraid I go a little too far in the "opening up" when I write the boys. It's such a fine line! :->
